Most kitchens don't fail on looks. New cabinet fronts and a new counter can dress that up, but they can't fix it, which is why the first question in a kitchen remodel isn't which finishes you want. That gets decided on paper, not during demolition. Moving a wall, relocating the sink, or opening the room to the dining side changes plumbing, electrical, and sometimes what is holding the ceiling up. It is far cheaper to find that out in a drawing.

Because we do our own drafting, layout comes before pricing. On paper is where you find out whether the wall to the dining room can open up, whether an island actually fits with working clearances or just looks like it does, and where the fridge, sink, and stove land so that cooking isn't a lap around the room. It's also where outlets, lighting, and venting get placed for how you actually cook, instead of inherited from whoever built the house. Changing the drawing is cheap; changing framed walls and run plumbing isn't. We spend the effort on paper, where mistakes are erasable.
Where kitchen budgets actually go
Cabinets are usually the biggest line in a kitchen remodel, and the spread between stock, semi-custom, and custom is wide enough to change the whole budget. The next driver is whether anything moves: a sink, stove, or gas line relocating means plumbing, electrical, and venting work behind the walls, while keeping the layout and replacing what's in it keeps the trades light. Counters, tile, and flooring matter, but they're the adjustable part. The written estimate separates these so you can see which choices move the number, and we'll tell you plainly when a cheaper path gets you the same kitchen.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Lead times set the calendar more than labor does. Cabinets and counters are the long-lead items, so we sequence orders early and aim to keep the kitchen offline only while work is actually happening. Scope matters too, since moving walls or services adds inspection stages along the way. We walk through the schedule for your kitchen before demo starts, so you know what's coming and when.
Do you handle the whole kitchen, or do we need separate contractors?
You hire one contractor, and in a kitchen that matters more than in most rooms, because the trades interlock. Cabinets go in, then counters get templated off the installed cabinets, then fabrication runs, then tile and backsplash close in behind them; a gap anywhere in that chain is a kitchen you can't use. Hols & Co runs the whole sequence, trades included, and handles permits and inspections whether your home falls under a city or the county.
