An ag building on paper is cheaper to change than one half-framed in a field. We draft plans as part of the job, so the layout, door schedule, and site placement are settled before material gets ordered. Do I need a permit for a pole barn in Lincoln or Minnehaha County?
It depends on the parcel. Inside city limits in Harrisburg, Tea, or Sioux Falls, the city is the permitting authority; on rural ground in Lincoln or Minnehaha County, it's the county. Hols & Co sorts out which rules apply and handles the application as part of the project, using the drafted plans we produce for the build.
Are you affiliated with Morton Buildings?
No. Morton is a national company that designs, manufactures, and erects its own post-frame buildings. Hols & Co is a local general contractor based in Harrisburg, and around here a Morton building is often just how people describe a post-frame building. If that is the shape you are picturing, post-frame is what we build. The differences worth knowing are who you actually deal with and how much lands on one estimate: Jace walks the site himself, drafting is part of the job, the permit gets filed with whichever authority covers your parcel, and concrete flatwork is on our own service list rather than a second contractor's.
Can you pour the concrete floor and approach too?
Yes. Concrete flatwork, driveways, and sidewalks are on our service list, so the slab, approach, and any apron work are part of the same job rather than a separate contractor. Footings go below the frost line, which is what South Dakota's freeze-thaw cycle requires to keep a slab and structure from heaving. It all shows up on one written estimate after the site walkthrough.

The person doing that walkthrough is the same person who runs the build. Project financing is available on qualifying jobs, and drafting and plans are part of the scope.
Do you build pole barns outside the Sioux Empire?
The core service area is Lincoln and Minnehaha counties — the towns and the rural ground between them — but post-frame work justifies a bigger radius than most projects. Machine sheds and shops on acreages are drive-out jobs by nature, and projects as far out as Pierre are on the table when the scope justifies the trip. Distance is a scheduling question, not a no; the site walkthrough happens in person either way.
